“Coach Kath, what exactly is it that you do for people?” It’s a fair question, one I get asked a lot, and the reason I wrote these first four ezine issues. Conscious Weight Loss™ is a watershed process — a turning point in a person’s weight loss efforts. It bridges the gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it by teaching a way of being that makes weight loss inevitable. Experiencing the process creates the person you need to become to allow your weight loss.
You read that correctly. Weight loss is not something you make happen, it’s something you let happen. Simply put, “your wish has already been granted”. Our work together is about learning how to bring yourself into alignment with your wish, rather than continuing your resistance (e.g. ambivalence, procrastination, sabotage). What would your life look like if you had the integrity and balance to consistently do what you said you’re going to do? that’s what I do for people.
There comes a point in a person’s efforts when they finally realize there’s got to be something more going on with weight loss than just diet and exercise.
Surveys tell us this comes after at least six serious attempts at losing weight. These unsuccessful attempts have a collective, humbling impact that finally shifts their focus from what I call a knowledge-seeker to a wisdom-seeker.
The knowledge-seeker — the person who’s trying to make weight loss happen — asks “How much will I lose and how long will it take?” She’s only interested in the facts, will go to any lengths to lose the weight and makes a huge assumption that once the weight is gone, it’s gone for good.
The wisdom-seeker — the person who wants to let weight loss happen - asks “How will my quality of life improve?” She understands there’s inner work to be done to reclaim her life and her body and she has more compelling reasons for doing so, such as experiencing more love, joy and growth in her life.
To summarize my first three ezine issues, I introduced:
- Self-love not as an abstract, warm and fuzzy concept but as a concrete, essential skill we all need to develop to be successful in life.
- Joy as the most enjoyable and powerful state there is. It’s present in every moment and in fact, it’s your natural state, but you need to learn to be with it.
- Personal growth as the foundation for meaningful change in your life. Opening yourself up to new truths and challenging old beliefs is key to moving forward.
My feature article for this issue distils the wisdom of Conscious Weight Loss™ into salient teaching points that my clients continually return to and deepen during the process. My new clients don’t generally grasp the significance of these points right away. My seasoned clients however, having lived these points and discovered ways to make them their own, grasp that this is the path to freedom from their weight issue.
With reverence,

Coach Kath
